200-gigabit QSFP56 uses four 50G PAM4 lanes to double the throughput of a QSFP28 link in the same form factor. The FN-CABLE-QSFP56-DAC-L1 is Fortinet’s 1-metre 200GBASE-CR4 passive twinax cable for those ports, with QSFP56 connectors on both ends and the optics built in. It draws negligible power, needs no separate modules, and is Fortinet-qualified so the appliance accepts it as genuine.

Passive 200GbE DAC is for in-rack, high-density links on the newest FortiGate platforms that carry QSFP56 cages: firewall-to-spine or spine-to-leaf where the run is 1m. It gives you 200G on copper at a fraction of the cost and power of optics, which matters when a rack aggregates many high-speed ports. For a 2.5m run use the FN-CABLE-QSFP56-DAC-LB5.

Compatibility

Connects two 200GbE QSFP56 ports on QSFP56-capable FortiGate appliances. QSFP56 ports are typically backward-compatible with 100G QSFP28, but this cable runs at 200G end to end. For a longer reach, use the 2.5m FN-CABLE-QSFP56-DAC-LB5; for an optical 200G link, the FN-TRAN-QSFP56-SR4 module carries QSFP56 over MPO multimode fiber.
