The FN-CABLE-QSFPDD-DAC-B5 is the 2.5-metre step in Fortinet’s passive 400G copper range, for 400GBASE-CR8 links that need to cross to a neighbouring rack rather than stay inside one cabinet. It carries a full 400G over eight twinax lanes between two QSFP-DD ports with the connectors integrated and under 0.1W of draw. The heavier 26 AWG, 11.6mm cable is the trade-off for the extra reach over the 1m version.

Where this cable fits

At 2.5m this passive DAC reaches between adjacent racks for 400G spine and aggregation links, covering a 400G-capable FortiGate to a switch one cabinet over without stepping up to optics and fiber. Passive twinax keeps power and heat near zero, though the thicker gauge needed for 2.5m takes a wider bend radius, so plan the cable path accordingly.

Compatibility

Connects two 400GbE QSFP-DD ports as a single fixed-end assembly. For same-rack links the 1m FN-CABLE-QSFPDD-DAC-01 is thinner and easier to route; for 3m or a lighter run, the FN-CABLE-QSFPDD-AOC-03 active optical cable is the next step. Breakout to 2x200G or 8x50G uses the FN-CABLE-QSFPDD-2QSFP56 or 8SFP56 cables.
