CWDM4 optics are the workhorse of 2km 100G: spine-to-leaf and building-to-building links that are too long for multimode SR but shorter than a 10km run. A FortiGate connecting to an aggregation layer across a large campus over duplex single-mode fiber is the typical case. For in-row multimode links the FN-TRAN-QSFP28-SR or BiDi optics are cheaper; for a full 10km reach step up to the FN-TRAN-QSFP28-LR, and for 20km the FN-TRAN-QSFP28-ER.

Fits QSFP28 slots on 100G-capable Fortinet appliances and connects over duplex-LC single-mode fiber at 100GbE to 2km. Pair it with a matching CWDM4 optic at the far end. For shorter multimode links use the FN-TRAN-QSFP28-SR; for 10km use the FN-TRAN-QSFP28-LR; for a short in-rack link the FN-CABLE-QSFP28-1 passive DAC is the copper alternative.
