Fortinet 400GbE QSFP-DD Module, Extended DR4+ 2km SMF (FN-TRAN-QSFPDD-DR4+)

The FN-TRAN-QSFPDD-DR4+ takes Fortinet’s parallel single-mode 400G design out to 2km. Like the 500m DR4 it uses four single-mode lanes at 1311nm over an MPO-12 ribbon, but with a longer optical budget that reaches 2km. It keeps the DR4 breakout property, four lanes that can fan out to four 100G single-mode links, while covering campus and building-to-building spans that the 500m DR4 cannot.

Where this module fits

A DR4+ optic is the 2km parallel single-mode 400G link: a Fortinet appliance to a 400G switch across a campus, or a 400G-to-4x100G breakout that has to reach further than the 500m DR4. It uses the same MPO-12 parallel single-mode cabling as the DR4, so a 500m design extends to 2km without changing connector type. Where the far end expects a duplex-LC optic instead, the FN-TRAN-QSFPDD-FR4 covers the same 2km over a single fiber pair.

Compatibility

Fits QSFP-DD slots on 400G-capable Fortinet appliances and connects over MPO-12 parallel single-mode fiber at 400GbE to 2km. Pair it with a matching DR4-family optic, or break out to four 100G single-mode links. For a 500m link use the FN-TRAN-QSFPDD-DR4; for a duplex-LC 2km link the FN-TRAN-QSFPDD-FR4; for 10km the FN-TRAN-QSFPDD-LR4.
