Fortinet 400GbE QSFP-DD Module, Long Range 10km SMF (FN-TRAN-QSFPDD-LR4)

The FN-TRAN-QSFPDD-LR4 is the long-reach top of Fortinet’s 400G family. Four wavelengths multiplexed onto a single pair of single-mode fibers carry a full 400 GbE up to 10km on a duplex LC, connecting a Fortinet appliance to a distant core switch, a second data center within a metro, or across a large campus backbone. Where the shorter DR4 and FR4 modules top out at 2km, the LR4 is the module that closes a 10km 400G span.

Where this module fits

A 400G LR4 optic reaches the links nothing shorter can: a metro connection between two facilities, a data-center-to-data-center hop, or a long campus backbone, all at 400 GbE over 10km of duplex single-mode fiber. Where 2km is enough the FN-TRAN-QSFPDD-FR4 (duplex LC) or FN-TRAN-QSFPDD-DR4+ (MPO-12 parallel) are lower cost, and for a short 100m multimode link the FN-TRAN-QSFPDD-SR8 applies.

Compatibility

Fits QSFP-DD slots on 400G-capable Fortinet appliances and connects over duplex-LC single-mode fiber at 400GbE to 10km. Pair it with a matching LR4 optic at the far end. For 2km use the FN-TRAN-QSFPDD-FR4; for 500m the FN-TRAN-QSFPDD-DR4; for a copper in-rack link the FN-CABLE-QSFPDD-DAC-01 passive DAC replaces the optic and fiber.
