Fortinet 1GbE SFP BiDi Transceiver Module, 10km, TX 1490nm (FN-TRAN-SFP-1BD10)

The FN-TRAN-SFP-1BD10 is Fortinet’s 1-gigabit BiDi optic for single-fibre links. A BiDi module carries both directions of the link on one strand using two wavelengths: this 1BD10 half transmits at 1490nm and receives at 1310nm, reaching 10km over single-mode fibre on a single simplex LC connector. It fits SFP (and SFP+) cages on FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiManager appliances and, as a Fortinet-qualified optic, is accepted by the appliance rather than flagged as unknown.

Where this module fits

1GbE BiDi optics conserve fibre on long single-mode runs, useful for leased fibre, congested conduit, or fibre-to-the-site links where only one strand is available. The 1BD10 is the ‘downstream’ end of a pair: deploy it opposite an FN-TRAN-SFP-1BU10 across up to 10km of single-mode fibre. Its wide -40°C to 85°C rating also suits outdoor and OT installations.

Compatibility

Fits SFP and SFP+ ports on FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiManager appliances. It links only to its opposite-wavelength partner, the FN-TRAN-SFP-1BU10 (TX 1310 / RX 1490); two 1BD10s cannot form a link. Use OS2 single-mode fibre with a simplex LC connector. Where two strands are available, the duplex FN-TRAN-LX is the conventional 1GbE 10km option.
