Fortinet 1GbE SFP BiDi Transceiver Module, 40km, TX 1310nm (FN-TRAN-SFP-1BU40)

The FN-TRAN-SFP-1BU40 is the ‘upstream’ half of Fortinet’s 40km 1-gigabit BiDi pair, the mirror of the 1BD40. It transmits at 1310nm and receives at 1490nm, carrying a full 1GbE link on a single single-mode fibre strand out to 40km on one simplex LC connector. It is the long-haul member of the BiDi line, four times the reach of the 10km 1BU10, and fits any SFP or SFP+ cage on a FortiGate, FortiSwitch, or FortiManager. As a Fortinet-qualified optic it clears the appliance’s transceiver check.

Where this module fits

The 1BU40 is the far end of a 40km single-fibre BiDi link: install it opposite an FN-TRAN-SFP-1BD40 across up to 40km of single-mode fibre. Like its partner it targets long spans where saving a fibre strand outweighs the small premium over a duplex optic, such as remote-site backhaul or metro links on leased fibre. Its -40°C to 85°C rating suits outdoor and OT enclosures. For a 10km link, the shorter FN-TRAN-SFP-1BU10 is the economical pick.

Compatibility

Fits SFP and SFP+ ports on FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiManager appliances. It links only to its opposite-wavelength partner, the FN-TRAN-SFP-1BD40 (TX 1490 / RX 1310); two 1BU40s cannot form a link. Use OS2 single-mode fibre with a simplex LC connector. Where two strands are available, the duplex FN-TRAN-EX family serves 40km 1GbE on two fibres.
