Fortinet 10GbE Copper RJ-45 SFP+ Transceiver Module, 30m (FN-TRAN-SFP+GC)

The FN-TRAN-SFP+GC bridges Fortinet’s fibre-oriented SFP+ ports to the copper world. It is a 10GBASE-T module with an RJ-45 jack, letting an SFP+ cage on a FortiGate, FortiSwitch, or FortiManager terminate a 10-gigabit link over structured Cat6A or better twisted-pair cabling to 30m. That is handy when the device at the other end, a server NIC or copper switch, only has an RJ-45 10G port. Being Fortinet-qualified, it is accepted on the appliance instead of throwing an unsupported-optic warning.

Where this module fits

A copper SFP+ is the answer when you need 10GbE over RJ-45 from an appliance that only offers SFP+ cages: connecting a FortiGate or FortiSwitch to a copper-only 10G server, NAS, or switch within a rack or across a wiring closet at up to 30m. It reuses existing Cat6A/Cat7 structured cabling instead of pulling fibre. If you need to reach 80m over copper, use the FN-TRAN-SFP+GC-T80 instead.

Compatibility

Fits SFP+ ports on FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiManager appliances. Requires Cat6A or better twisted-pair cabling to hold 10GbE to 30m, terminated on RJ-45. Note the 2.5W draw is higher than a fibre optic, so check the host’s per-port power budget on densely populated cages. For an 80m copper reach, the FN-TRAN-SFP+GC-T80 is the longer-range sibling.
