Fortinet 10GbE Copper RJ-45 SFP+ Transceiver Module, 80m (FN-TRAN-SFP+GC-T80)

The FN-TRAN-SFP+GC-T80 is Fortinet’s longer-reach copper SFP+, carrying 10-gigabit Ethernet over RJ-45 twisted-pair up to 80m. Like the shorter GC it turns an SFP+ cage on a FortiGate, FortiSwitch, or FortiManager into a 10GBASE-T copper port, but its extra reach and lower 1.88W draw suit runs that cross a floor or wiring closet rather than staying in-rack. As a Fortinet-qualified module it is recognized by the appliance instead of being rejected as an unknown optic.

Where this module fits

Choose the GC-T80 when a 10GbE copper link has to travel further than the 30m FN-TRAN-SFP+GC allows, up to 80m over Cat6A/Cat7. Typical uses are a FortiGate or FortiSwitch reaching a copper-only 10G device across a floor or between closets, reusing structured twisted-pair rather than running fibre. Its lower 1.88W draw also eases the per-port power budget on fully loaded SFP+ cages.

Compatibility

Fits SFP+ ports on FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiManager appliances. Requires Cat6A or better twisted-pair to 80m, on RJ-45. For shorter in-rack copper hops, the 30m FN-TRAN-SFP+GC is the standard choice; for longer runs, move to SR/LR fibre optics.
