This 10GBASE-LR module drives 10GbE over single-mode fiber at 1310nm out to 10km, and drops into any SFP+ cage on a FortiGate, FortiSwitch, or FortiManager. Being Fortinet-branded and factory-qualified, it clears the appliance’s transceiver check rather than logging an unsupported-module alarm.

Long-range 10GbE covers inter-building uplinks, metro handoffs, and any run where multimode fiber would fall short. Typical uses are a FortiGate at the edge linked to a core switch across a campus, or two sites joined over dark single-mode fiber. Keep both ends on matching LR optics and single-mode patch cabling.

Compatibility

Fits the SFP+ ports of FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiManager appliances. It is a single-mode optic, so use OS2 single-mode duplex LC fiber and an LR module at the far end. For sub-300m links, the multimode FN-TRAN-SFP+SR is the lower-cost choice; beyond 10km, use the FN-TRAN-SFP+ER (40km).
