The FN-TRAN-SFP+LRM solves a specific problem: running 10GbE over the older FDDI-grade OM1 multimode fibre already installed in many buildings. This 10GBASE-LRM module transmits at 1310nm and reaches 220m over legacy OM1 MMF, or 300m over single-mode, on a duplex LC connector, letting you light up 10-gigabit links on existing multimode plant without re-cabling. It installs in any SFP+ cage on a FortiGate, FortiSwitch, or FortiManager and passes the appliance’s transceiver check.

Where this module fits

LRM is a legacy-fibre bridge: use it where a building has older OM1 (or FDDI-grade) multimode cabling in place and you want 10GbE without pulling new fibre. It reaches 220m on that legacy MMF, enough to cross most campus and inter-floor runs, and 300m on single-mode. Where you are cabling fresh with OM3/OM4, the FN-TRAN-SFP+SR is the standard short-range choice; for single-mode distance, use the FN-TRAN-SFP+LR.

Compatibility

Fits the SFP+ ports of FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiManager appliances. It is designed for legacy OM1 multimode duplex LC fibre (mode-conditioning patch cords may be required per the fibre type) and also runs on single-mode to 300m. Match it with an LRM optic at the far end. For new OM3/OM4 multimode plant, the SR module is more economical.
