Fortinet 100M SFP Transceiver Module with SGMII, 2km MMF (FN-TRAN-SFX)

The FN-TRAN-SFX is Fortinet’s 100-megabit fibre SFP with an SGMII host interface. Like the FN-TRAN-FX it carries 100BASE-FX at 1310nm over multimode fibre to 2km on a duplex LC connector, but the SFX presents an SGMII interface to the host, which certain appliance ports require to drive a fixed 100M fibre link. It fits SFP cages on FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiManager appliances and, being Fortinet-qualified, is accepted rather than flagged as unknown. The wide -40°C to 85°C rating suits outdoor and OT sites.

Where this module fits

100M fibre still matters for legacy fast-ethernet links, industrial endpoints, and building automation gear that never moved to gigabit. The SFX is the SGMII-interface version of that optic: use it where the appliance port needs an SGMII module to establish a 2km 100BASE-FX link over multimode fibre. If your port drives a standard 100M SFP without SGMII, the FN-TRAN-FX is the equivalent module.

Compatibility

Fits SFP ports on FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiManager appliances that expect an SGMII 100M optic. Use multimode duplex LC fibre with a matching 100BASE-FX optic at the far end. Where the port uses a standard (non-SGMII) 100M SFP, use the FN-TRAN-FX; to move up to gigabit multimode, the FN-TRAN-SX is the 1GbE short-range choice.
