The FN-TRAN-SXI-4PACK bundles four of Fortinet’s industrial-temperature 1-gigabit short-range optics in a single order. Each SXI module is a 1000BASE-SX optic at 850nm over multimode fibre to 500m on a duplex LC connector, but qualified across a wider -40°C to 85°C range than the standard FN-TRAN-SX. The four-pack suits deployments that need several hardened SX optics at once, such as an outdoor cabinet, factory floor, or a batch of ruggedized appliances. Each module fits any SFP or SFP+ cage on a FortiGate, FortiSwitch, or FortiManager and is accepted by the appliance.

The SXI four-pack is for rolling out several hardened 1GbE multimode links at once: an outdoor enclosure, a manufacturing line, or a group of ruggedized FortiGate/FortiSwitch units that each need a wide-temperature SX optic. The -40°C to 85°C rating is what separates it from the standard FN-TRAN-SX (-20°C to 85°C); order the pack when temperatures swing outside a controlled room and you need quantity. For a single standard-temperature optic, the FN-TRAN-SX is the individual part.

Compatibility

Each module fits the SFP/SFP+ ports of FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiManager appliances. Use OM2 or better multimode duplex LC fibre and a matching 1000BASE-SX optic at the far end. For a single unit at standard temperature, the FN-TRAN-SX is the choice; the FortiRugged FR-TRAN-SX is the equivalent industrial optic sold individually.
