Fortinet 1GbE SFP Transceiver Module, 90km Ultra-Long-Range (FR-TRAN-ZX)

The FR-TRAN-ZX is the longest-reach 1-gigabit optic in Fortinet’s SFP line, built for point-to-point links that span well beyond a metro campus. It drives a 1000BASE-LX signal at 1550nm over single-mode fibre out to 90km on a duplex LC connector, wide enough temperature range (-40°C to 85°C) to sit in an unconditioned cabinet at either end of the run. Drop it into any SFP cage on a FortiGate, FortiSwitch, or FortiManager and, as a Fortinet-qualified module, it clears the appliance’s transceiver check rather than raising an unsupported-optic warning.

Where this module fits

A 90km 1GbE link is for connecting two sites that sit well outside metro distances on dark or leased single-mode fibre, a regional backhaul between a branch and a data center, or an inter-city core link where laying additional fibre is not an option. Because the span is long, verify the fibre’s total attenuation against the module’s optical budget before deployment; on shorter-than-rated runs an inline attenuator can protect the receiver from overload.

Compatibility

Fits SFP ports on FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiManager appliances. Requires OS2 single-mode duplex LC fibre and a matching 1000BASE-LX/ZX optic at the far end. For a standard 10km single-mode hop, the FN-TRAN-LX is the economical choice; where fibre strands are scarce, the FN-TRAN-SFP-1BD40/1BU40 BiDi pair reaches 40km on a single strand.
