Wi-Fi 7 changes what a single ceiling-mounted AP can carry, and the FortiAP 243K (FAP-243K-A) is built to prove it in dense spaces. Four radios cover 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz simultaneously while a dedicated tri-band radio scans for rogues and interference, and the whole unit uplinks through a 10G multigigabit port so the wireless side is never throttled by a gigabit cable. The six external antennas set it apart from its sibling, the 241K: when a warehouse, lecture hall, or high-ceiling retail floor needs shaped coverage, you can swap or reposition the RP-SMA antennas instead of repositioning the AP.
The AP ships with its standard mounting kit for ceiling, T-rail, and wall installation. Power is not included by design: order the GPI-130 injector for 802.3at operation, the GPI-145 for full 802.3bt power with every radio at maximum, or run it from a 36 W DC adapter. Antennas are included; this is the external-antenna model with six RP-SMA connectors.

The 6 GHz band is the quiet neighbourhood of Wi-Fi: wide channels, no legacy clients, and the 243K pushes up to 5.77 Gbps through it. That throughput only matters if the uplink keeps pace, which is why the 10G multigigabit port is the second headline. The fourth radio scans all three bands full-time for WIDS/WIPS and spectrum analysis without stealing airtime from clients, and the built-in BLE and ZigBee radios cover asset tracking and IoT without bolting on extra hardware.
Plan the power budget before installation. On 802.3at (GPI-130) the AP runs with the 6 GHz radio at reduced transmit power. Full performance on all radios plus the USB port needs 802.3bt, which the GPI-145 injector or a bt-capable PoE switch such as the FortiSwitch 110G-FPOE delivers. This is the most common sizing miss on Wi-Fi 7 deployments, and the reason both injectors appear with this listing.
No license is required to put the AP to work: it is managed by a FortiGate firewall through its built-in WLAN controller, or through FortiEdge Cloud and SASE deployments. FortiCare Premium support for the AP itself (FC-10-P243K- prefix) is sold separately, and worth pairing with hardware that sits on a ceiling for years.
Offices and campuses standardizing on Wi-Fi 7, schools and venues with high client density per room, and warehouses or retail floors where external antennas solve awkward coverage geometry. If interior aesthetics matter more than antenna flexibility, the FortiAP 241K is the same AP with internal antennas.
Need more spatial streams for even denser deployments? The FortiAP 441K and 443K step up to the 400-series tier with higher-end radio configurations.
DataCenter360.ca stocks the FAP-243K-A in Canada as an authorized Fortinet Select Partner, factory-sealed with full Canadian warranty support. Orders ship free in 0 to 1 business days to every province, and if you are unsure whether your switch can power it properly, ask before ordering rather than discovering it at mounting time. The matching injector, PoE switch, and FortiCare options are linked right on this page.
No. It is managed by a FortiGate firewall or FortiEdge Cloud without a per-AP operating license. FortiCare Premium support contracts (FC-10-P243K- prefix) are optional and sold separately.
Three options: the GPI-145 injector for full 802.3bt power, the GPI-130 injector for 802.3at (6 GHz radio runs at reduced transmit power), or a 12V 3A DC adapter. A 802.3bt PoE switch like the FortiSwitch 110G-FPOE also powers it at full mode. No power source is included in the box.
Same radios, same performance. The 241K uses internal antennas; the 243K has six external RP-SMA antennas for coverage shaping in warehouses, high ceilings, and irregular spaces.
The 6 GHz band depends on regional regulatory approval. This is the Region Code A (Americas) model, and 6 GHz operation is supported in Canada under current ISED rules.
Yes. DataCenter360.ca ships the FAP-243K-A free to all Canadian provinces in 0–1 business days. Hardware sales are for Canadian customers only.
