The FortiAP 243K is the external-antenna variant of Fortinet's quad-radio Wi-Fi 7 2x2 indoor access point. It shares the full FAP-241K platform — four radios, three serving clients at 2x2 across 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz, plus a dedicated tri-band scan radio that monitors for rogue APs and RF threats 24x7 without interrupting client traffic — but replaces the six internal antennas with six external RP-SMA connectors. You can fit directional, ceiling-tile, dual-band or 6 GHz-specific antennas to shape and concentrate RF coverage exactly where clients are, making the 243K the preferred choice for auditoriums, lecture halls, open-plan enterprise floors and other spaces where internal-antenna APs produce suboptimal patterns. A 10 Gigabit multigigabit primary uplink (100M / 1G / 2.5G / 5G / 10G) handles the combined throughput of all three active radios, and a second 1 GbE port can serve a local device. 802.3bt PoE powers the full 4-radio configuration at 26.1 W maximum from a single cable. Managed by any FortiGate, FortiEdge Cloud or FortiSASE with no per-AP management licence. For the same performance with internal antennas, choose the FAP-241K.

The 243K ships with a standard ceiling / T-rail / wall mount kit. Use the GPI-145 for full 4-radio 802.3bt power. External antennas (not included) attach to the six RP-SMA connectors.
The FortiAP 243K is a current-generation Wi-Fi 7 access point, actively sold and fully supported. It is not on an end-of-order or end-of-support schedule.
The FAP-243K and FAP-241K are the same quad-radio Wi-Fi 7 platform. The 243K has six external RP-SMA connectors so you can attach directional, ceiling-tile or 6 GHz-specific antennas for tailored RF patterns. The 241K uses six internal antennas. Both deliver the same ~10.8 Gbps aggregate rate and 802.3bt PoE requirement.
Choose the 243K when your space has challenging RF geometry — auditoriums, lecture halls, long corridors, dense open-plan floors or any environment where you want to steer or concentrate coverage with directional antennas. The external connectors let you swap antennas without replacing the AP as coverage needs change. If internal antennas are adequate, the 241K is the simpler install.
802.3bt is required for full 4-radio operation at up to 26.1 W. In 802.3at high mode Radio 3 is limited to 15 dBm Tx power. Use the GPI-145 multigig 802.3bt injector or an 802.3bt-capable PoE switch. The GPI-130 802.3at injector supports the high mode with the noted limitation.
