The FortiAP 231K is Fortinet's tri-radio Wi-Fi 7 indoor access point — three 2x2 MU-MIMO radios covering 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and the 6 GHz band, with a 5 Gigabit multigigabit uplink and standard 802.3at PoE. It is the step up from the dual-band 221K for deployments that need the 6 GHz spectrum: enterprise offices, high-density classrooms, conference rooms, and anywhere that both bands of the 5 GHz plus the cleaner 6 GHz airspace deliver meaningful throughput gains. A dedicated BLE / Zigbee radio supports IoT, beacons, and locationing, and an integrated GPS enables location-aware policies and timing. 24×7 background scanning across all three bands detects rogue APs and threats without pulling any radio off service. Management is through a FortiGate WLAN controller, FortiEdge Cloud, or FortiSASE — no separate AP controller licence required. Step up to the quad-radio 241K for a dedicated scan radio and 10 GbE uplink, or to the 4x4 441K for highest-density 6 GHz deployments.

The FortiAP 231K is a current-generation Wi-Fi 7 access point, actively sold and fully supported. It is not on an end-of-order or end-of-support schedule.
Both are 2×2 Wi-Fi 7 APs. The 221K is the entry dual-band model (2.4 / 5 GHz) with a 2.5 GbE uplink — the most affordable Wi-Fi 7 option. The 231K adds a third radio for the 6 GHz band and a 5 GbE uplink, covering the full Wi-Fi 7 spectrum for spaces where 6 GHz capacity matters.
