The FortiAP 431G is a high-density Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) indoor access point with three 4x4:4 MU-MIMO radios operating concurrently across the 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands, delivering a total PHY rate of about 8.4 Gbps over a single 5 Gigabit Ethernet uplink. It uses internal high-performance antennas for a clean ceiling install and is the internal-antenna sibling of the external-antenna 433G. Managed by any FortiGate or by FortiEdge Cloud with no separate controller and no per-AP management licence, it suits offices, classrooms and meeting spaces that need the extra capacity of the clean 6 GHz band. The 431G is end-of-order but remains in our catalog, fully supported and renewable through 2031. For the newer Wi-Fi 7 generation step up to the FortiAP 441K, which adds 4096-QAM and dual 10 GbE uplinks; the 433G is the external-antenna equivalent in the same 4x4 family.

They share the same 4×4 Wi-Fi 6E radios; the 431G uses internal high-performance antennas for a clean ceiling install, while the 433G has external antennas for coverage shaping. Choose the 431G for standard indoor ceilings, the 433G where you need directional or high-gain antennas.
It is a tri-radio Wi-Fi 6E AP with 4×4 MU-MIMO on all three bands, reaching 1201 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 4804 Mbps on 6 GHz — about 8.4 Gbps aggregate — over a single 5 GbE uplink, with up to 512 clients per serving radio.
