Product description

If you already hold FortiGuard licensing for a FortiGate 30G, or you intend to add it separately, this is the listing you want: the FortiGate 30G appliance on its own (FG-30G), with no subscription attached. It runs FortiOS the moment it powers on and handles firewalling, SD-WAN, and VPN right away. The subscription-based protection most people associate with a FortiGate, things like IPS, antivirus, and web filtering, switches on only after you apply a FortiGuard service. You can buy that service with the unit or add it down the line.

What’s in the box

You receive the FortiGate 30G hardware running FortiOS, Fortinet’s combined networking and security operating system. Two things are included at no extra cost and need no subscription. The first is integrated Secure SD-WAN for application-aware routing across your WAN links. The second is a built-in wireless controller, which lets you manage FortiAP access points without buying separate controller hardware.

FortiGate 30G specifications

Firewall throughput Up to 4 Gbps
IPS throughput (Enterprise Mix) 800 Mbps
NGFW throughput 570 Mbps
Threat Protection throughput 500 Mbps
IPsec VPN throughput 3.5 Gbps
Concurrent sessions 600,000
New sessions/second 30,000
Network interfaces 4x GE RJ45 (1 WAN + 3 internal)
Form factor Compact, fanless desktop
Architecture Patented SD-WAN ASIC with FortiOS

Where it’s strong

The 30G punches above its size because of Fortinet’s purpose-built SD-WAN ASIC. Routing and security run on dedicated silicon rather than a general-purpose CPU, so you get higher throughput and lower power draw than comparably priced firewalls. Deployment is straightforward too: zero-touch provisioning brings new sites online with minimal hands-on time, and FortiGate Cloud gives you central logging, reporting, and management when you need it.

Should you buy the hardware alone, or a bundle?

Buy the appliance by itself when you already have a valid FortiGuard subscription to apply, for example when you are replacing or migrating an existing unit. For a brand-new deployment, a bundle (FG-30G-BDL) is usually the better value, because it adds FortiCare Premium support and a FortiGuard service tier so the device arrives ready to filter traffic and block threats. On its own, the 30G still gives you firewalling, SD-WAN, and VPN, but not the subscription-driven security services. DataCenter360.ca stocks both the bare unit and every bundle and term for the 30G.

Who runs a FortiGate 30G

  • Small businesses and offices of roughly 10 to 25 users
  • Retail sites that need PCI DSS-aligned segmentation and logging
  • Branch locations linking back to head office over secure SD-WAN
  • Executive or remote home offices that need real protection in a small footprint

Moving up: 50G and 70G

If your throughput or session needs are higher, the FortiGate 50G and 70G step up performance for busier branches while keeping the same FortiOS experience. Replacing an older 30E or 40F? The G-series moves to newer FortiASIC silicon, which means stronger SSL inspection and IPS numbers along with better energy efficiency.

Buying from DataCenter360.ca

DataCenter360.ca is an authorized Fortinet Select Partner, so the 30G you receive is genuine, brand-new hardware with full warranty eligibility. Since the hardware-only decision almost always comes down to a licensing question, it helps to order from a team that can tell you which FortiGuard subscription actually fits before you check out. Shipping across Canada is free and usually lands within a business day, on a fully secured checkout.

FortiGate 30G (Hardware Only) – Frequently Asked Questions

Does the FG-30G include FortiGuard security subscriptions?
No. This is the appliance only. To turn on subscription services such as IPS, antivirus, and web filtering, add a FortiGuard subscription or choose an FG-30G-BDL bundle that includes one.
What is the difference between the FG-30G and the FG-30G-BDL?
The FG-30G is the hardware on its own. The FG-30G-BDL adds FortiCare Premium support and a FortiGuard service tier for a set term, so the unit is ready to deliver active security as soon as it is deployed.
How many users can it handle?
Roughly 10 to 25, depending on traffic and which features are enabled. Busier sites are better served by the 50G or 70G.
Can the hardware ship outside Canada?
FortiGate 30G hardware ships within Canada. FortiGuard licenses and renewals are available worldwide, so contact DataCenter360.ca if you need licensing for an appliance located elsewhere.
Is it suitable for PCI DSS environments?
Yes. The 30G is a common choice for retail and small-office sites that need segmentation, intrusion prevention, and logging, provided the relevant FortiGuard services are active.
