What this service covers

A replacement ships under the standard RMA process tied to the underlying FortiCare tier, while the faulty appliance, and anything stored on it, stays on site. This matters because a FortiGate holds configuration data, VPN keys, certificates, and policy objects that some organizations are contractually or regulatorily required to keep under their own control.

Secure RMA is an add-on, not a replacement for FortiCare. The FortiGate 1000F still needs an active FortiCare Essential, Premium, or Elite contract; this license layers the no-return handling on top of whichever RMA response time that base tier already provides.
