If the FortiAP-432FR already has an active FortiCare Premium contract and you need Elite SLAs now, the 1-year Premium-to-Elite upgrade (FC-10-FR432-204-02-12) is the cost-effective path. Instead of purchasing a full standalone Elite contract, this upgrade applies the Elite response and replacement SLAs to the remaining period of the existing Premium contract, giving you 15-minute critical response and Next Calendar Day hardware replacement without buying coverage you already own.

What the Upgrade Covers

The Premium-to-Elite upgrade applies for one year from the upgrade activation date. It converts the existing FortiCare Premium entitlements on the registered FAP-432FR to Elite-tier SLAs: the critical-response target drops from 1 hour to 15 minutes, hardware replacement shifts from Next Business Day to Next Calendar Day delivery, and Priority RMA moves from an eligible add-on to an included service. All existing Premium entitlements (24×7 TAC, firmware access, portal) remain unchanged — only the SLA tier is upgraded.

Eligibility Requirement

This SKU requires an active FortiCare Premium contract on the same FortiAP-432FR serial number. It cannot be applied to a device running FortiCare Essential, or to a device with an expired contract. If the existing Premium contract has less than one year remaining, the upgrade covers only the remaining Premium period — it does not extend the contract term. Upgrade vs. Standalone Elite

The 1-year upgrade applies Elite SLAs to time you have already paid for under Premium. A standalone Elite contract (FC-10-FR432-284-02-12) is the right choice when no active Premium contract exists, when the Premium contract has already expired, or when you want to lock in Elite coverage for a full year starting from today rather than applying it to the remaining Premium term. Longer-term upgrades (FC-10-FR432-204-02-36 for 3 years, FC-10-FR432-204-02-60 for 5 years) follow the same eligibility rules and apply for the stated upgrade term from the activation date.

Activation and Delivery

Does the upgrade extend my Premium contract?
No. The Premium-to-Elite upgrade upgrades the SLA tier for the stated period — it does not extend the contract term. If your Premium contract has 6 months remaining and you apply a 1-year upgrade, you receive Elite SLAs for the 6-month remainder, not for a full additional year. What happens to the upgrade SLA when the Premium contract expires?
When the underlying Premium contract expires, all FortiCare coverage ends — including the Elite upgrade. To continue Elite support after expiry, renew with a standalone FortiCare Elite contract (FC-10-FR432-284-02-12 for 1-year, or longer-term variants).
Can I apply this upgrade to multiple FortiAP-432FR units?
