The FortiAP 431F is a high-density indoor Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) access point with a tri-radio, 4x4 MU-MIMO design — two client radios on 2.4 and 5 GHz plus a dedicated dual-band scanning radio — and internal antennas for a clean ceiling install. Four spatial streams on each band serve far more full-rate clients than a 2x2 AP, which makes it a fit for busy offices, lecture halls and conference spaces. It is the internal-antenna sibling of the external-antenna 433F, and is managed by any FortiGate or by FortiEdge Cloud with no separate controller and no per-AP management licence. A 2.5 Gigabit uplink plus a second Gigabit port give multigigabit headroom and PoE diversity over existing cabling, and an integrated BLE radio supports beacons and locationing. The 431F is end-of-order but remains in our catalog, fully supported and renewable through 2030. For the newer Wi-Fi 7 generation step up to the FortiAP 441K; the 431G is a close Wi-Fi 6E successor in the same 4x4 family.

How the FortiAP 431F compares across the line. It is a high-density Wi-Fi 6 4×4 indoor AP with internal antennas; the 433F is the external-antenna version, and the Wi-Fi 7 441K is the successor.
The 431F is a proven high-density Wi-Fi 6 indoor AP. For the newer Wi-Fi 7 generation move to the 441K (6 GHz band and dual 10 GbE uplinks); the 431G is the Wi-Fi 6E step-up in the same family.

They share the same 4×4 Wi-Fi 6 radios; the 431F uses internal antennas for a clean ceiling install, while the 433F has external RP-SMA antennas for coverage shaping. Choose the 431F for standard indoor ceilings, the 433F where you need directional or high-gain antennas.
It is a tri-radio Wi-Fi 6 AP with 4×4 MU-MIMO, reaching up to 1148 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz — about 3.5 Gbps aggregate — with a dedicated scanning radio and up to 512 clients per serving radio.
It runs on standard 802.3at PoE over its 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet uplink, with a second Gigabit port for PoE diversity. Power it from any 802.3at PoE switch, the GPI-130 injector, or the SP-FAP400-PA adapter.
