The FortiAP U231F is Fortinet's indoor Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) Universal UTP access point — a three-radio 2x2 design that gives you a choice of operating modes: run dual 5 GHz radios for maximum capacity while still covering 2.4 GHz clients, or dedicate the third radio to continuous background scanning so rogue-AP and threat detection never interrupts client traffic. It uses the Wi-Fi 6 toolkit — OFDMA, MU-MIMO, BSS coloring and Target Wake Time — to serve more devices more efficiently over existing Cat5e/Cat6 cabling, and each 5 GHz radio reaches up to 1.2 Gbps. As a Universal UTP model it is Threat-Protection-capable: you can run FortiGuard security services directly on the AP when it is FortiGate-managed, bringing firewall-grade protection to the LAN edge. Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports give PoE flexibility, an integrated BLE / Zigbee radio supports beacons, locationing and IoT, and the AP is managed by any FortiGate, by FortiEdge Cloud or through FortiSASE — no per-AP management licence. The U231F is end-of-order but remains in our catalog, fully supported and renewable through 2030.
