The FortiAP 231F is a mainstream Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) indoor access point - the kind of ceiling or wall AP that covers offices, classrooms, clinics and retail floors. It runs 2x2 MU-MIMO on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands for up to about 1.73 Gbps aggregate, with a dedicated third radio that scans continuously for threats and rogue APs, plus a BLE/Zigbee radio for beacons and locationing. Three internal dual-band antennas keep it discreet, it draws just 17 W over 802.3at PoE, and it is managed by any FortiGate or by FortiAP Cloud - no separate controller and no per-AP management license.
The FAP-231F has reached end of order and the hardware is sold out. You can still renew FortiCare support and order RMA replacement for an installed unit using the tables below. When you are ready to refresh, the FortiAP 231K is the direct, currently-shipping successor: same compact 2x2 form factor, but Wi-Fi 7 with the 6 GHz band and a multigigabit uplink.
