The FortiAP 234G is Fortinet’s ruggedized Wi-Fi 6E outdoor access point designed for deployments where weather, dust, and potentially explosive atmospheres are a reality. Its IP67-sealed enclosure is C1D2/ATEX certified for hazardous locations — oil fields, mining operations, chemical plants — while delivering full Wi-Fi 6E tri-radio service across the 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands. Three radios give you simultaneous 24/7 scanning across all bands while still serving clients on 2.4 and 5 GHz, or the AP can be reconfigured for 2.4 GHz / dual 5 GHz or 2.4 + 5 + 6 GHz simultaneous access. Ten internal cross-dipole antennas (no external connectors to corrode) and built-in GPS, BLE and Zigbee radios make it a complete outdoor IoT and locationing node. A 2.5 GbE uplink plus a 1 GbE PoE diversity port give you multigig backhaul and redundant PoE in a single unit. It operates from −40°C to 60°C and runs on standard 802.3at PoE — the 60 W injector ships in the box. Like every FortiAP, it is managed by any FortiGate built-in WLAN controller, FortiEdge Cloud, or FortiSASE without a separate controller licence.

The FortiAP 234G is a current-generation Wi-Fi 6E outdoor access point, actively sold and fully supported by Fortinet. It is not on any end-of-order or end-of-support schedule.
The FAP-234G is C1D2 (Class 1 Division 2) and ATEX certified, meaning it can be safely deployed in areas where flammable gases or vapors may be present under normal operating conditions — such as oil rigs, refineries, gas processing plants, mining operations, and chemical storage. Yes. The 234G has an integrated multi-constellation GNSS receiver supporting GPS L1, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS, making it suitable for outdoor asset tracking, precise time synchronization, and location-aware applications without a separate GPS module.
The FAP-234G uses IEEE 802.3at PoE (28 W maximum) on its 2.5 GbE LAN1 port, with a second 1 GbE LAN2 port for PoE diversity failover. The 60 W PoE injector (PIN060-54PR) is included in the box. The AP also supports 802.3af at reduced transmit power (2.4 and 5 GHz only; 6 GHz radio disabled in low-power mode).
