Product description

When a FortiGate 1100E-DC fails and the unit contains configuration data your organization cannot allow off-premises, standard RMA procedures create a compliance gap. The Secure RMA service (FC-10-F11DE-301-02-12) closes that gap: Fortinet permits the defective appliance to stay on-site, unrecovered, so the solid-state media and everything stored on it never leaves your control. This 1-year subscription applies specifically to the FortiGate 1100E-DC — the rack-mount firewall built for data-center and high-availability edge deployments where uninterrupted operation and data sovereignty both matter.

What Secure RMA Covers

Fortinet products store configuration, logs, and certificates on internal solid-state media that is not field-replaceable without voiding the warranty. Under a standard RMA, the customer ships the failed unit back to Fortinet. Secure RMA removes that obligation: if the 1100E-DC hardware fails during the subscription period, Fortinet authorizes a replacement without requiring the defective unit’s return. The faulty appliance is decommissioned and disposed of under the customer’s own data-destruction policy. Coverage includes all FortiGate 1100E-DC hardware failures eligible under FortiCare during the 1-year term.

Who Needs This Service

Secure RMA is purpose-built for regulated and security-conscious environments where data residency is non-negotiable:

  • Government and defense agencies operating under classification requirements
  • Financial institutions with data-protection mandates (PCI DSS, SOX, OSFI guidelines)
  • Healthcare organizations handling PHI under HIPAA or provincial health-privacy rules
  • Critical infrastructure operators where hardware leaving the site requires a formal chain-of-custody
  • Enterprises that run air-gapped or restricted-access network segments

For organizations in these categories, the cost of a Secure RMA subscription is straightforward to justify against the compliance and audit burden of standard hardware return logistics.

Activation and Delivery

FC-10-F11DE-301-02-12 is a software subscription delivered electronically. After purchase, Fortinet sends license registration instructions by email. No physical shipment is involved for the subscription itself. Activation is through the Fortinet Support Portal, tied to the specific FortiGate 1100E-DC serial number. The 1-year term begins on the date of activation. Worldwide e-delivery means there is no geographic restriction on ordering — the license registers in Fortinet’s global support system regardless of country.

Secure RMA and Your FortiCare Base Contract

Secure RMA is an add-on service and requires a current FortiCare Premium or Elite per-device contract on the same 1100E-DC to take effect. It does not replace your base technical-support contract — it modifies the hardware return condition of that contract. The table below shows what each FortiCare tier includes for RMA and support, so you can confirm your base coverage before adding Secure RMA:

Feature Essential Premium Elite
Hardware RMA Return & replace Advanced replacement Advanced replacement
Priority RMA add-on eligible
Critical-issue response Next business day 1 hour 15 minutes
Telephone support

Secure RMA is available as an add-on to Premium and Elite tiers. Essential does not support the Secure RMA option.

Buying from DataCenter360.ca

DataCenter360.ca is an authorized Fortinet Select Partner. The FC-10-F11DE-301-02-12 subscription is stocked and ready for immediate electronic delivery to any country. Orders placed here go through Fortinet’s authorized channel, so the registration and support entitlement are fully valid from day one. For multi-year coverage or volume orders, contact us for pricing — the 3-year and 5-year Secure RMA subscriptions for the 1100E-DC are also available in this store.

Does FC-10-F11DE-301-02-12 cover replacement hardware, or only the nonreturn waiver?
Secure RMA covers both. If the FortiGate 1100E-DC fails under warranty during the subscription period, Fortinet ships a replacement appliance and waives the return requirement for the defective unit. You keep the failed hardware for internal disposal, and the replacement arrives under the standard advanced-replacement timeline of your base FortiCare contract.
Does this service require an active FortiCare Premium or Elite contract?
Yes. Secure RMA is an add-on to a base FortiCare per-device contract. Essential tier does not qualify. If the 1100E-DC is running FortiCare Premium or Elite, Secure RMA can be added on top to modify the hardware-return condition. Purchasing Secure RMA without a qualifying base contract means the add-on terms will not be fully enforceable — confirm your base coverage first.
Who handles disposal of the defective hardware under Secure RMA?
The customer is responsible for decommissioning and disposing of the retained unit in accordance with their own data-destruction and environmental policies. Fortinet authorizes the nonreturn; it does not provide destruction services. Many organizations combine Secure RMA with a certified media-destruction vendor to satisfy audit requirements.
Is this subscription available worldwide, or limited to Canada?
The Secure RMA subscription is an electronic license with worldwide availability. DataCenter360.ca delivers it electronically to any country. Actual RMA hardware service availability (replacement unit shipment) is country-dependent and subject to Fortinet’s regional service-availability list — check Fortinet’s support pages or contact us for your specific country’s coverage.
What happens if the 1-year term expires before the hardware fails?
The Secure RMA entitlement ends with the subscription term. If the 1100E-DC fails after expiry, the standard return conditions of your base FortiCare contract apply. Renewing before expiry keeps the nonreturn waiver in place continuously. The 3-year and 5-year Secure RMA subscriptions for the same model are available for longer uninterrupted coverage.
