A five-year term is a better value per year; a one-year term offers more flexibility if hardware plans are uncertain.

Does FortiCare Elite cover physical damage or theft?

No. FortiCare covers hardware defects and failures under normal operating conditions. Damage caused by accidents, power events outside Fortinet’s specifications, or theft is not covered. For physical damage or theft coverage, a separate equipment insurance policy applies.

What is the difference between FortiCare and FortiGuard?

FortiCare is Fortinet’s hardware support and SLA service, covering phone access, hardware replacement, and response time guarantees. FortiGuard is Fortinet’s threat intelligence subscription service, providing IPS signatures, web filter categories, antivirus updates, and application control databases. Both are separate subscriptions that run concurrently on the FortiGate 31G.
