What FortiCare Premium covers

Premium is the production-ready support tier for FortiGate deployments. This three-year contract gives the registered FG-50G-SFP-PoE entitlement to FortiOS firmware updates and security patches, access to Fortinet’s telephone support line during incidents (not just the web queue), a one-hour response commitment on critical outages, and ship-first advanced replacement. The unit is also eligible for the separate Priority RMA add-on (FC-10-F50GP-210-02-36) if you need same-day dispatch.

Who needs Premium

Premium is the right contract when the FortiGate is running a primary site connection and someone needs to reach TAC by phone during an outage. That covers: branch offices where the FG-50G-SFP-PoE terminates a fiber WAN or SD-WAN link, IT teams with an internal SLA that requires a defined response window, and any site where a next-business-day response on a critical issue is too slow. Secondary or non-critical sites where web support and a slower RMA turnaround are acceptable can use Essential instead.

Activation and delivery

Delivery is electronic, normally within 0 to 1 business days, to any country. Once you receive the contract number, register it against your FG-50G-SFP-PoE serial in the FortiCare portal at support.fortinet.com. Coverage activates immediately on registration. If stacking this on an expiring contract, register it before the old one lapses to avoid a gap in coverage.

Premium, Essential, or a full bundle

Three options for covering this unit. FortiCare Essential (FC-10-F50GP-314-02-36) is support-only at the entry tier: firmware updates, web tickets, return-and-replace RMA, next-business-day critical response. Premium (this contract) adds telephone TAC, 1-hour response, and advanced replacement. If you also need active FortiGuard security subscriptions on the FG-50G-SFP-PoE, a UTP (FC-10-F50GP-950-02-36) or Enterprise (FC-10-F50GP-809-02-36) bundle packages those services with FortiCare Premium — often better value than sourcing them separately.

Yes. FC-10-F50GP-247-02-36 is registered against a single FG-50G-SFP-PoE serial number. It does not transfer between units without going through Fortinet’s re-registration process.
