What FortiCare Premium covers

FortiCare Premium is the production-standard support contract for FortiGate appliances. Over the one-year term, this contract keeps the FG-50G-SFP-PoE entitled to FortiOS firmware and security patch releases, gives you telephone access to Fortinet TAC when you need help fast, commits Fortinet to a 1-hour response on Priority 1 incidents, and provides advanced replacement if the hardware fails. Unlike Essential, Premium ships a replacement unit first — you return the defective one after the new one arrives.

Who needs Premium

Any FortiGate handling traffic you cannot afford to lose benefits from Premium. For the FG-50G-SFP-PoE specifically, the SFP+ WAN slot is typically connected to a fiber uplink or an SFP+ switch uplink — both scenarios where a multi-day return-and-wait RMA process creates meaningful downtime risk.
