The 1-year Priority RMA (FC-10-GT51G-210-02-12) for the FortiGate 51G gives next-calendar-day hardware replacement coverage for a 12-month term — a practical starting point for sites that want to evaluate the benefit before renewing into a longer contract, or for environments with annual budget cycles that prefer single-year service terms.

What Priority RMA (Next Calendar Day) Covers

If the FortiGate 51G fails, you open an RMA case. Once confirmed, Fortinet ships a replacement unit by courier for next-calendar-day delivery, weekends and public holidays included. Standard next-business-day RMA (included with FortiCare Premium) does not count weekends; Priority RMA closes that gap.

Conditions to be aware of:

  • FortiCare Premium or Elite must be active on the device. Essential does not qualify.
  • The defective unit must be returned after you receive the replacement.
  • The 1-year coverage runs from the registration date on the Fortinet Support Portal.

It is also a common choice when a FortiGate 51G is being deployed toward the end of a fiscal year and a co-terminus renewal is easier to manage.

Activation and Delivery

The Priority RMA license is electronic. Register the key against the FortiGate 51G serial number in the Fortinet Support Portal and coverage activates immediately. Delivery at DataCenter360.ca is typically same-day on business days — no physical shipment needed for the license itself. Hardware only ships when an actual failure triggers an RMA event.

One Service or a Bundle?

Priority RMA on its own makes sense when the site is already covered by FortiGuard security services and only hardware turnaround is the gap. Can I upgrade from 1-year to a 3-year term mid-way through?

What is the difference between Priority RMA and standard RMA included with FortiCare Premium?

FortiCare Premium includes next-business-day RMA at no extra charge — a replacement unit ships the next business day after the RMA is confirmed. Priority RMA upgrades that to next-calendar-day, meaning weekends and holidays count. If a FortiGate 51G fails on Friday at 4 PM, standard RMA ships Monday; Priority RMA ships Saturday for delivery the same weekend.

Is Priority RMA the same as Secure RMA?

No. Priority RMA addresses delivery speed — next calendar day. Secure RMA (FC-10-GT51G-301-02-xx) addresses data protection — it allows the defective unit to remain on-site rather than being returned to Fortinet. They solve different problems and can be used together in some configurations.

Does coverage renew automatically?

Fortinet licenses do not auto-renew. When the 1-year term expires, Priority RMA coverage lapses and you revert to the next-business-day RMA included with FortiCare Premium. Set a calendar reminder 30-60 days before expiry to allow time for renewal purchasing and registration.

How is the replacement unit configured?

Fortinet ships a factory-default replacement unit. You are responsible for restoring configuration from your backup. The FortiGate 51G configuration can be backed up via the GUI, CLI, or FortiManager. Having a recent backup is the fastest path to restoring operations after a replacement arrives.
