Product description

The FortiSwitch 124F-POE delivers PoE to a subset of its 24 GE access ports, making it the right-sized option for offices and branch closets where full-PoE budget isn’t needed on every port. Once it’s running in production, coverage requirements are the same as any access switch: a fast support path and advance hardware replacement if the unit fails. FC-10-S124P-247-02-12 covers both, providing FortiCare Premium for one year on the FS-124F-POE.

What FortiCare Premium Covers

The contract provides 24×7 telephone and web support, a 1-hour response SLA for priority-1 incidents, and advance hardware replacement for the duration of the year. With advance replacement, Fortinet ships a new FS-124F-POE before you return the failed unit, so your downtime is limited to cabling a replacement, not waiting for a round-trip RMA. The contract also includes full access to firmware updates and the Fortinet support portal through to the expiry date.

FortiCare Tier Comparison

FC-10-S124P-247-02-12 is a FortiCare Premium contract. The table below compares how the three FortiCare tiers serve FortiSwitch models:

Feature Essential Premium Elite
Critical issue response (P1) Next business day 1 hour (24×7) 15 minutes (24×7)
Telephone support Business hours 24×7 24×7
Hardware advance replacement
Priority RMA add-on eligibility Included
Firmware, tools & support portal
Extended LTS & monitoring portal FortiGate only

Who Needs FortiCare Premium

Any organization running the FS-124F-POE in a live environment benefits from Premium coverage. The PoE ports may serve IP phones, security cameras, or access points that need to stay online during business hours. IT teams with lean staff who can’t afford extended troubleshooting or slow RMA wait times are the primary audience. Managed service providers who need to meet customer SLAs also rely on Premium contracts to back their commitments.

Activation and Delivery

This is an electronic license. DataCenter360.ca delivers the license key within 0-1 business days of your order. Activate it in the Fortinet support portal against the FS-124F-POE serial number, or via your FortiGate if the switch runs under FortiLink management. Coverage starts on the activation date.

Choosing the Right Term

The 1-year term suits initial deployments and annual budget cycles. For a 3-year commitment on the FS-124F-POE, FC-10-S124P-247-02-36 offers a lower per-year rate. A 5-year option is also available (FC-10-S124P-247-02-60) for long-term installations. FortiCare Essential (FC-10-S124P-314-02-12) is the lighter-tier option if 24×7 access and advance replacement are not requirements.

Buying from DataCenter360.ca

DataCenter360.ca carries FortiCare Premium at all three terms for the FS-124F-POE and can source the hardware alongside the license in a single order. As a Fortinet Select Partner, licenses are processed electronically and ship the same business day. If you want to verify coverage scope or compare the POE and FPOE variants before ordering, contact us directly.

What is the difference between the FS-124F-POE and FS-124F-FPOE for FortiCare purposes?
The hardware models differ in PoE port count and power budget. Each has a distinct FortiCare SKU prefix: FC-10-S124P- covers the FS-124F-POE, while FC-10-S124F- covers the FS-124F-FPOE. Do not mix the contracts between these two models.
What does advance replacement mean in practice?
If your FS-124F-POE fails and qualifies for RMA, Fortinet ships a replacement unit to your site before you return the faulty switch. Your downtime is limited to receiving and cabling the replacement, not the combined round-trip shipping time.
Is Priority RMA available as an add-on to FortiCare Premium?
Yes. Premium contracts are eligible to add Priority Next-Day RMA (FC-10-S124P-210-02-12), which accelerates the advance replacement shipment to next calendar day. FortiCare Essential contracts do not qualify for this add-on.
Does FortiCare cover configuration issues or only hardware failures?
FortiCare Premium covers both. It gives you access to Fortinet’s technical support team for software bugs, configuration questions, and firmware assistance, as well as advance hardware replacement for physical failures.
How do I check when my FortiCare contract expires?
The expiry date is visible in the Fortinet support portal (support.fortinet.com) under your registered devices. You can also see it in your FortiGate interface if the switch is managed via FortiLink and the contract is registered to that unit.
