OVERVIEW

What the FortiSwitch 548D is for

The FortiSwitch 548D is a 48-port Gigabit Ethernet aggregation switch from Fortinet's 500-series Campus line - 48x GE RJ45 ports plus four 10GE SFP+ and two 40GE QSFP+ high-speed uplinks, data only (no PoE), with 336 Gbps of switching capacity in a 1RU chassis. Managed over FortiLink from any FortiGate, it folds wired access and aggregation into the Security Fabric so switching, Wi-Fi and security share one console.

The 548D has reached end of sale and is no longer stocked as new hardware. The current, in-stock replacement is the FortiSwitch 648F - the same high-density 48-port role with greater switching capacity and 25 GbE SFP28 uplinks. If you need Power over Ethernet, choose the 648F-FPOE (48 ports, 1800 W); the 548D-FPOE remains available on the mature 500-series platform. FAQ

FortiSwitch 548D - frequently asked questions

No. The FortiSwitch 548D (FS-548D) has reached end of sale and is no longer stocked as new hardware. The current, in-stock replacement is the FortiSwitch 648F – we can quote it and help you migrate.

The FortiSwitch 648F is the direct replacement – the same high-density 48-port aggregation role with greater switching capacity and 25 GbE SFP28 uplinks. For Power over Ethernet, choose the 648F-FPOE (48 ports, 1800 W).

No – the base 548D is data only (48x GE RJ45 + 4x 10GE SFP+ + 2x 40GE QSFP+). The 548D-FPOE powered all 48 ports (750 W, or 1440 W with dual PSU) and is still available on the 500-series platform; the current-gen PoE equivalent is the 648F-FPOE.

Over FortiLink from any FortiGate firewall, so switching, Wi-Fi and security were managed in one console with no separate controller. It could also run standalone. The 648F keeps the same FortiLink management.

Yes. As a Fortinet Select Partner we can spec the right current FortiSwitch, match port, uplink and PoE counts, and quote hardware plus FortiCare. Hardware ships free and fast; licensing is delivered electronically worldwide.
