The 548D-FPOE and 548D share the same 48-port / 336 Gbps platform with 10GE SFP+ and 40GE QSFP+ uplinks — they differ by Power over Ethernet: the 548D-FPOE powers 48 ports at up to 1440 W, the data-only 548D has no PoE. For smaller closets, the 24-port 524D-FPOE covers the same role at lower capacity.
The 548D-FPOE is the 48-port full-PoE member of the 500-series Campus line. The 524D-FPOE offers 24 PoE+ ports for smaller closets, and the current-generation 648F-FPOE is the 48-port successor with 25GE uplinks. Same FortiSwitchOS and FortiLink management across the range.

Yes — the 548D-FPOE is actively sold and supported with a limited lifetime warranty. It is a mature 500-series platform; if you are standardizing on the newest generation, ask us about the 600-series F models as an alternative.
