The FortiAP U234F is a ruggedized, IP67-rated Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) Universal access point for outdoor and harsh indoor environments — building exteriors, courtyards, warehouses and transport sites. Its tri-radio design can run dual 5 GHz for extra capacity while still serving 2.4 GHz clients, or offer a dedicated scanning radio for always-on security, and an integrated BLE radio handles beacons and locationing. Each 5 GHz radio reaches up to 2.4 Gbps (about 4.8 Gbps aggregate in dual 5 GHz mode) using the Wi-Fi 6 toolkit — OFDMA, MU-MIMO, BSS coloring and Target Wake Time — for dense outdoor coverage. As part of the Universal (UTP) family it can run FortiGuard Universal Threat Protection services on the AP itself, bringing firewall-grade protection to the edge, and is managed by any FortiGate, by FortiLAN Cloud or by a standalone controller. A 2.5 GbE multigigabit uplink and 802.3bt PoE feed the higher outdoor data rates, and the unit ships with a passive PoE injector. The U234F is end-of-order but remains in our catalog, fully supported and renewable through 2030. For the newer Wi-Fi 6E generation step up to the FortiAP 234G (adds the 6 GHz band); the FortiAP 234F is the closest like-for-like Wi-Fi 6 outdoor AP.
