The FortiAP 221E is Fortinet's entry indoor Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac Wave 2) access point — a dual-radio 2x2 design serving the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands with a single Gigabit Ethernet uplink, the most affordable model in the E-series line. It uses Wave 2 features — MU-MIMO and 256-QAM — to serve more devices efficiently over existing Cat5e/Cat6 cabling, and runs on standard 802.3at PoE for an easy retrofit. An integrated BLE radio supports beacons and locationing, and the AP is managed by any FortiGate, by FortiAP Cloud or through FortiSASE — no per-AP management licence. The 221E is end-of-order but remains in our catalog, fully supported and renewable through 2030.
