The FS-AX9008G-FAN is the cooling module for the FortiSwitch AX9008G eight-slot chassis. It is dedicated to that chassis: the four-slot FS-AX9004G uses FS-AX9004G-FAN, and the two are not interchangeable. Power supplies, by contrast, are shared across both AX9000G chassis.
Full specifications are not yet published. Fortinet's current FortiSwitch-AX9000G Series datasheet covers the four-slot chassis only, and this module is listed on the price list as a new product. For the four-slot chassis Fortinet requires three fan modules for normal operation regardless of card count; we would expect a comparable requirement here, but we will not state a number Fortinet has not published. Ask us and we will confirm the required quantity with Fortinet before you order.
Like every other component in the AX9000G family, the fan module is hot swappable, so a failed unit can be replaced while the chassis stays in service.

The eight-slot FortiSwitch AX9008G only. The four-slot FS-AX9004G uses a different module, FS-AX9004G-FAN, and the two are not interchangeable. Power supplies are shared between both chassis, but fan modules are not.
Fortinet has not published that figure for the eight-slot chassis. For the four-slot AX9004G the requirement is three modules for normal operation regardless of how many supervisors and line cards are installed. We will not guess at the AX9008G number — ask us and we will confirm it with Fortinet before you order.
