The FortiSwitch AX9008G is the eight-slot member of the AX9000G modular chassis family. It doubles the line-card capacity of the four-slot AX9004G while accepting exactly the same supervisor modules and line cards, so the choice between the two is about how much you expect to grow rather than about capability. Eight slots take any mix of 48-port multi-gigabit PoE, 48-port 10G, 48-port 25G with 100G uplinks, 32-port 100G and 8-port 400G cards.
The chassis ships empty. A working system is the AX9008G plus at least one FS-AX9000G-SUP supervisor module, at least one line card, fan modules and the power supplies for your configuration. Note that the AX9008G uses its own fan module, FS-AX9008G-FAN — the AX9004G's fan is not interchangeable. Power supplies are shared across both chassis.
The AX9000G family is managed through FortiSwitchNMS. Fortinet has stated that Security Fabric integration through FortiLink is planned for this platform; it is not available today, so the AX9008G is not managed from a FortiGate the way the fixed-configuration FortiSwitch models are.

A working system needs the chassis, at least one FS-AX9000G-SUP supervisor module, at least one line card, fan modules (FS-AX9008G-FAN — the AX9004G fan is not interchangeable) and the power supplies for your configuration. All are ordered separately; send us your requirements and we will quote the complete system.
Slot count. The AX9008G takes eight line cards, the AX9004G takes four. Both accept the same FS-AX9000G-SUP supervisor modules and the same five line cards, and both support up to two supervisors. The fan modules differ — FS-AX9008G-FAN for the eight-slot chassis, FS-AX9004G-FAN for the four-slot. Power supplies are shared.
Not today. The AX9000G series is managed through FortiSwitchNMS, Fortinet’s network management platform. Fortinet has stated that Security Fabric integration through FortiLink is planned, but it is not available at present, so the AX9008G is not managed from a FortiGate the way fixed-configuration FortiSwitch models are.
