The FortiAP 231KD is the tri-radio Wi-Fi 7 FortiAP 231K with a built-in 6-inch LCD touchscreen display added to the chassis. The wireless side is unchanged: three 2x2 MU-MIMO radios covering 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and the 6 GHz band, a 5 Gigabit multigigabit uplink, and standard 802.3at PoE. The LCD adds a local screen for meeting-room status, wayfinding directories, queue or occupancy signage, or building information — the kind of information that would otherwise need a separate mounted display and its own power run. A dedicated BLE / Zigbee radio supports IoT, beacons, and locationing, and an integrated GPS enables location-aware policies and timing. 24×7 background scanning across all three bands detects rogue APs and threats without pulling any radio off service. Management is through a FortiGate WLAN controller, FortiEdge Cloud, or FortiSASE — no separate AP controller licence required. Choose the 231KD over the plain 231K whenever the deployment needs a local display; step up to the quad-radio 241K for a dedicated scan radio and 10 GbE uplink, or to the 4x4 441K for highest-density 6 GHz deployments.

The 231KD ships with a standard ceiling / T-rail / wall mount kit. Power it from any 802.3at PoE switch port, the GPI-130 injector, or the SP-FAP250-PA DC adapter.
The FortiAP 231KD is a current-generation Wi-Fi 7 access point, actively sold and fully supported. It is not on an end-of-order or end-of-support schedule.
They share identical tri-radio Wi-Fi 7 hardware — the same 2×2 MU-MIMO radios across 2.4/5/6 GHz, the same 5 GbE uplink and 802.3at PoE. The 231KD adds a built-in 6-inch LCD touchscreen display to the chassis, and ships with a different DC adapter (SP-FAP250-PA vs SP-FAP200-PA-XX on the 231K) to power it. There is no wireless performance difference.
The built-in display shows local status information and can be used for wayfinding directories, meeting-room or space status, queue management, or basic digital signage — use cases that would otherwise require mounting a separate screen next to the access point.
