The FortiSwitch 248D is a 48-port Gigabit Ethernet access switch with four GE SFP fiber uplinks, built for wiring closets and desk connectivity where Power over Ethernet is handled separately. It delivers 48 Gigabit RJ45 access ports, four GE SFP uplinks and 104 Gbps of switching capacity with Layer 2/3 FortiSwitchOS in a 1RU chassis. Managed over FortiLink from any FortiGate, it folds wired access into the Security Fabric - one console for switching, Wi-Fi and security, with no separate controller. It also runs standalone.
The 248D is a legacy-generation switch that we still stock new, support and renew. If you need PoE for access points, phones or cameras, the current FortiSwitch 248E-POE powers 24 ports (370 W) and the 248E-FPOE powers all 48 ports (740 W); for a current data-only 48-port switch, see the FortiSwitch 448E.
