The FortiGate 51G-SFP-PoE is the most capable model in the FortiGate 50G/51G desktop series. Built on Fortinet’s FortiSP5 ASIC, it delivers 1.1 Gbps of threat protection and 5 Gbps firewall throughput while adding two features the standard 50G-SFP-PoE lacks: a 64 GB onboard SSD for local logging. The PoE+ implementation powers up to 4 devices (FortiAPs, VoIP phones, IP cameras) directly from the firewall, eliminating a separate PoE switch.
The WAN side provides both a GE RJ45 WAN1 port and a GE SFP slot for copper or fibre ISP handoffs. WAN2 (RJ45 PoE+) doubles as a secondary WAN for SD-WAN dual-WAN failover. Secure SD-WAN and Universal ZTNA are built into FortiOS at no extra cost. The 64 GB SSD stores logs locally without requiring FortiAnalyzer for typical small-branch deployments.
