The FortiGate 51G-SFP-PoE is a compact desktop next-generation firewall that combines a Gigabit SFP fiber slot, four PoE+ ports, and a 64 GB onboard SSD. A branch or small office can take a fiber WAN handoff, power downstream access points, IP phones, and cameras, and retain logs and reports locally, all from one box. Built on Fortinet's SP5 secure SD-WAN ASIC, it delivers 1.1 Gbps of threat protection, 5 Gbps firewall throughput, 720,000 concurrent sessions, and 1.3 Gbps of SSL inspection. It runs FortiOS with built-in SD-WAN and ZTNA enforcement, and connects to a fiber ONT, a fiber-fed switch, or a longer-distance fiber link through the SFP slot. The four PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) ports remove the need for a separate PoE switch or injector at the edge, and the 64 GB onboard SSD is the difference from the 50G-SFP-PoE. The SFP slot accepts standard 1 Gbps transceivers (sold separately).

Mount the 51G-SFP-PoE on a desk, in a rack tray, or on a DIN rail.
The 51G-SFP-PoE is a current-generation ‘G’ series FortiGate built on the SP5 secure SD-WAN ASIC, fully supported with active FortiGuard and FortiCare subscriptions. It is the SFP-fiber-plus-PoE-plus-SSD variant of the 50G desktop line.
Four of its Gigabit RJ45 ports deliver PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) power, so you can run downstream access points, IP phones, or cameras straight from the firewall with no separate PoE switch or injector.
The onboard 64 GB SSD provides local storage for logging and reporting, useful at remote or branch sites where you want logs retained on the device. The 50G-SFP-PoE has no onboard SSD.
The SFP fiber slot, four PoE+ ports, and security performance are identical across both; the 51G-SFP-PoE adds the 64 GB onboard SSD for local logging and storage. Both deliver 1.1 Gbps threat protection, 5 Gbps firewall, 720,000 sessions, and 1.3 Gbps SSL inspection.
