The FortiGate 51G-5G is a compact desktop next-generation firewall with a built-in 5G WAN modem and a 64 GB onboard SSD. It connects to 5G NR and 4G LTE networks through dual nano-SIM slots and five external antennas, so a remote site gets a secure WAN link with no separate cellular router, while the onboard SSD keeps logs and reports locally. Built on Fortinet's SP5 secure SD-WAN ASIC, it delivers 1.1 Gbps of threat protection, 5 Gbps firewall throughput, 720,000 concurrent sessions, and integrated SD-WAN. It fits mobile deployments, pop-up and temporary sites, and any branch that needs cellular as a primary or backup WAN plus local logging. The cellular link can run as the main WAN or as automatic failover within SD-WAN.

The 51G-5G is a current-generation ‘G’ series FortiGate built on the SP5 secure SD-WAN ASIC, fully supported with active FortiGuard and FortiCare subscriptions. It is the 5G-cellular-plus-onboard-SSD variant of the 50G desktop line.
Yes. It has an embedded 5G NR and 4G LTE modem (Telit Cinterion FN990A28-HP) with dual nano-SIM slots and five external SMA antennas (four cellular, one GPS). You do not need a separate cellular router or USB modem.
The onboard 64 GB SSD provides local storage for logging and reporting, useful at remote or cellular sites where you want logs retained on the device. The base 50G-5G has no onboard SSD.
Security performance and the 5G/LTE modem are the same across both; the 51G-5G adds the 64 GB onboard SSD for local logging and storage. Both deliver 1.1 Gbps threat protection, 5 Gbps firewall, and 720,000 concurrent sessions.
