The FortiSwitch 424E-Fiber is a 24-port all-fiber access switch built for fiber-to-the-desk deployments and sites where copper runs are impractical — long distances, electrically noisy environments, or buildings that standardized on fiber. It offers 24 GE SFP access ports plus four 10GE SFP+ fiber uplinks and 128 Gbps of switching capacity, in a 1RU rack-mount chassis with optional redundant AC power. With no PoE output, it is a pure high-density fiber aggregation and access switch. Managed over FortiLink from any FortiGate, it folds wired access into the Security Fabric — one console for switching, Wi-Fi and security, with no separate controller. It also runs standalone. They differ by access media and Power over Ethernet: the 424E-Fiber uses 24x GE SFP fiber ports (data only), the 424E uses copper RJ45 (data only), the 424E-POE powers 24 copper ports at a 250 W budget, and the 424E-FPOE raises the PoE+ budget to 421 W.
The 424E-Fiber is the all-fiber, data-only member of the 400-series Campus access line. The copper 424E keeps the same 24-port / 128 Gbps platform with RJ45 ports, and the 448E steps up to 48 ports and 176 Gbps. Same FortiSwitchOS and FortiLink management across the range.
